Module 1: Instructional Model
All of the Invitations to Inquiry with FieldScope use an instructional model behind the sequencing of the lessons.
Each inquiry begins with a phenomenon-based hook to engage students into the inquiry and surface their prior ideas and experiences.
Then, the inquiry takes time to 'situate the data' within the citizen science project to help students understand what data was collected and why.
Each inquiry then goes through at least one cycle of analysis and sense making. Students discuss next steps or actions to take, and there are also opportunities for students to participate in the data production process within the citizen project.
